Teeth Whitening

Serving patients from Los Gatos, San Jose, Saratoga and the surrounding areas

Tooth whitening is a form of cosmetic dentistry that reverses the appearance of stained teeth. You may have tried over-the-counter whitening agents only to be left disappointed. Why not try an in-office whitening procedure that will provide you with outstanding, longer-lasting results?

Do you need Teeth Whitening?

Over time, teeth become stained by foods and beverages we consume, use of tobacco, and sometimes medications can stain teeth from the inside. Even with regular brushing and flossing at home in combination with routine dental cleanings and checkups, teeth may still become stained, leaving you with a lack of confidence. Smiling is important for your life, health, and relationships, and stained teeth should not hold you back.

How do teeth become stained?

Teeth have a natural outer layer known as enamel. When consistently exposed to beverages such as coffee, tea, and wine, the enamel becomes stained and cannot be removed with regular brushing or dental cleanings. Tobacco can also stain the enamel of your teeth. These all cause what is known as an extrinsic stain, which affects only the enamel portion of the tooth, but can typically be corrected with in-office whitening methods.

Intrinsic stains are when teeth become stained from the inside, usually as a result of certain prescription medications, trauma to the tooth, or fluorosis. Intrinsic stains are typically unresponsive to over-the-counter whitening agents. However, our in-office whitening treatment can correct both extrinsic and intrinsic stains.

At home tooth whitening treatments

We also offer tooth whitening methods that can be done in the comfort of your home. The tooth whitening agents we provide are stronger than what you can purchase over the counter. If you have been unsatisfied with your efforts of tooth whitening, our methods can help provide you with outstanding results!

Following your tooth whitening procedure, it is important to limit or avoid consumption of foods and beverages that cause teeth to stain. Avoiding tobacco will also help prevent stains from reoccurring.
